Congratulations to Tatyana Larkina on the successful defense of her PhD dissertation!
On October 9, 2025, Tatyana Yuryevna Larkina, a junior research fellow at the International Laboratory for Social Integration Research (ILSIR) at the National Research University, Higher School of Economics, defended her PhD dissertation on "Discretion in the Work of School Teachers in Russia."
The HSE Institute of Social Sciences's Autumn School was held at the Voronovo Training Center.
From September 11th to 15th, the Voronovo Educational Center hosted the International Laboratory for Social Integration Studies' autumn school, entitled "Women as Agents of Change in Turbulent Times: Reducing Risks and Expanding Opportunities." Students from HSE, MGIMO, and other higher education institutions. Participants listened to lectures by sociologists, anthropologists, economists, and philosophers on topics related to women's agency.
ILSIR staff took part in the 5th ISA Forum of Sociology in Rabat, Morocco
From July 11-15, the 5th Forum on Sociology of the International Sociological Association was held in Rabat, Morocco. Representatives of the International Laboratory for Social Integration Research presented papers alongside more than 4,000 participants.

Gabriella Leelee Enchill (Research intern at International Laboratory for Social Integration Research) engaged in Archipelago ’25 Tech Expo at Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology. The forum was held on 7th-17th August, 2025; themed “Within the Framework of the International Forum on the Development of Unmanned Systems”.

Gabriella Leelee Enchill (Research intern at International Laboratory for Social Integration Research) attended a world forum large scale meeting being held by the International Organization for Eurasian Cooperation in Moscow. The forum was held on 20th-21st August, 2025; themed “New Era, New Ways”.
Nikita Bolshakov took part in two European research conferences
In early July, two conferences were held in which leading research fellow of the ILSIR Nikita Bolshakov took part: the 13th Conference of the European Association of Disability Researchers, dedicated this year to social transformations (13th ALTER Conference: Transformations, July 8-10, Innsbruck, Austria) and the 10th International Conference on Ethnography and Qualitative Research (10th Ethnography and Qualitative Research International Conference, July 10-12, Trento, Italy).
ILSIR staff took part in the work of the Congress of Anthropologists and Ethnologists of Russia 2025 in Perm
On July 2–6, 2025, the XVI Congress of Anthropologists and Ethnologists of Russia (XVI KAER) was held in Perm, where staff from the International Laboratory for Social Integration Studies presented their reports. The business part of the Congress included over sixty different discussion formats - sections and round tables, where experts shared their experiences and discussed modern trends and prospects for the development of socio-cultural anthropology and ethnology.
Elena Yarskaya-Smirnova, with the support of the Federal Social Science Foundation and the Higher School of Economics, took part in the conference of the European Association of Social Work Researchers “Social Connectedness – Contemporary Challenges and Opportunities”
