ILSIR staff took part in the II International Conference “Social Work & Social Research” in Baku
On May 23-24, the 2nd international conference "Social Work & Social Research" was held, where employees of the International Laboratory for Social Integration Research took part. The conference was held in Baku (Azerbaijan) at the University of Azerbaijan.

On the first day of the conference, the staff of the ILSIR presented two reports. The first was a hybrid presentation by the head of the laboratory Elena Rostislavovna Yarskaya-Smirnova with research intern Elena Petrova on the topic of "Educational events for the "silver generations": an analysis of the motives of elderly listeners. Based on critical geragogy, as well as ideas about the quality of life of the elderly, a matrix of motives of listeners of active longevity courses was reconstructed, showing the predominance of affective and bodily motives, as well as differences in motivation depending on the format of training and socio-demographic characteristics.

The second report was an online presentation by leading research fellow Victoria Konstantinovna Antonova and research intern Arseniy Buchatsky on the topic “The value of inclusiveness in the development of human potential (using the example of employment of people with disabilities).”

On the second day of the conference, leading research fellow Daria Igorevna Prisyazhnyuk and research intern Vlada Mikhaleva gave a presentation. The presentation analyzed the key skills of teachers, which are perceived by students of active longevity courses as the most important, as well as their connection with the ideas of critical gerogogy. The main conclusion is that the social competencies of geragoges, based on the principles of the Madrid Plan, are most in demand among the “resource” groups of older people, which reflects the paradox of empowerment in this age category.
