Egor Novgorodov held the second seminar of the project group on studying educational courses for elderly Russians as a resource for active longevity
On April 28, the ILSIR hosted a seminar of the HSE FSS project group entitled “Educational Courses for the Elderly as a Resource for Active Longevity.” The speaker was ILSIR research intern and postgraduate student Egor Novgorodov. The topic report: "Gamification and video games for older people: trends and prospects." The founder of the social project Everland, Igor Novikov, spoke as a discussant at the seminar.

In his speech, Egor spoke about the prospects for introducing gamification elements into educational courses for older people. As demonstrated by successful experimental cases and research literature, gamification, i.e. the use of interactive techniques and practices typical of computer games, can improve comfort and efficiency educational courses. Moreover, the use of game elements in the education of the elderly promotes “digital inclusion” – it allows older people to access the digital space more easily and teach them how to use modern technologies, which has a positive effect on their social well-being.
The report was followed by a broad discussion, in which many of the Laboratory's employees took part. Igor Novikov suggested concentrating efforts on strengthening the theoretical foundations of the research and conceptualization of the main concepts. In general, all colleagues noted the great potential and relevance of the proposed topic.
