HSE is launching a new Bachelor's programme in Russian Studies. While the programme will be taught in English, it is intended not only for foreigners but also for Russian students. Rostislav Turovsky, the programme’s Academic Supervisor, spoke to the HSE News Service about the features of the new programme.

On November 20-24, Salvatore Zappala, Associate Professor of Organizational Change and Development, University of Bologna, School of Psychology, is visiting HSE Moscow as part of the programme of cooperation between HSE and the University of Bologna. The Higher School of Economics has significantly improved its position in the U.S. News Best Global Universities subject ranking in mathematics, placing 107th this year. HSE also rose in the U.S. News Best Global Universities institutional ranking, as well as the social sciences and public health subject ranking.
HSE has improved its position in two Times Higher Education (THE) rankings compared to last year. The university demonstrated the greatest growth in the Social Sciences category, rising from the 175-200 group to 126-150. Additionally, HSE improved within the 101-125 group of the Business and Economics ranking.
Bachelor’s programme in Political Science and Master’s programmes “Applied Politics” and “Politics. Economics. Philosophy” have been granted international accreditation by Central Evaluation and Accreditation Agency (ZEvA), based in Hannover, Germany.
HSE and L'École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) have signed an agreement for the provision of a double degree track for the HSE’s Master's programme in Comparative Social Research. This is the second double degree track being offered to students of this programme. Earlier this year, a similar agreement was signed with the Free University of Berlin.
According to the researchers of the HSE International Laboratory of Positive Psychology of Personality and Motivation, personality development is associated with positive acceptance of solitude. Their study is based on a survey of 204 respondents (41 men and 163 women), mostly students, aged 16 to 25.
Over the last three years, Associate Professor Daniil Tsygankov from the HSE Institute of Public Administration and Governance has been studying how the Netherlands, Germany and Russia all introduce the standard cost model, a promising tool for assessing the impact of state regulation on business. Today he will be sharing his experience, gained from conferences, placements, field and practical work in this area.
The Higher School of Economics has entered the Expert Analytical Centre’s ranking in 10 subjects. The ranking studies the research productivity of Russian universities. In five subject areas, the university has taken first position in the ranking.
