Work by graduates of the HSE undergraduate programme in sociology took first place at the Russian national undergraduate and graduate student academic research competition in the social sciences category. In addition, research by a graduate of the HSE St. Petersburg won an audience’s choice award.

The application period for HSE’s Student Research Paper Competition has started. The winners will have an opportunity to take part in workshops on academic skills development, while those in state-financed studies will improve their chances of seeing their academic scholarships increased. The Higher School of Economics has made it onto 13 subject and two subject area rankings in the QS World University Ranking thanks to the university’s achievements as part of the Project 5-100. In addition, HSE was in the top 100 ranking for three subjects – Economics & Econometrics, Politics & International Studies, and Sociology – and it was the only Russian school in the Accounting & Finance 101-150 ranking. As for total number of subject rankings, HSE was third in Russia.
