Seminar on Representation of Liberalism in Public Discourse and Critical Discourse Analysis Held by HSE’s Working Group

The Working Group on the Discursive Dimension of Foreign Policymaking held its eighth seminar, "Discursive Construction of Liberalism and its Axiological Foundations in the Russian Public Sphere: the Case of the Periodical Press from 2021 to 2023”, on Thursday, May 16, at 2:30 PM in Room 224 at Myasnitskaya Street, 20.

 

Ekaterina Bragina, a core researcher of the Working Group, delivered a presentation delving into the discursive formation of liberalism and its value foundations. The seminar revolved around a discussion of possible ways of researching the public sphere, including quantitative and qualitative methods, their theoretical foundations, as well as, more generally, the framing and representation of key ideologies in the Russian press. 

Participants of the seminars shared their feedback on ongoing research and discussed the applicability of proposed research design to other areas.
