HSE Working Group Hosts Seminar on Russian Foreign Policy Discourse Research Approaches
On February 8, The HSE Working Group on Russian discursive space hosted a seminar "Theoretico-Methodological Underpinnings of Russian Foreign Policy Discourse Research: Constructivism in IR and the Notion of 'Ontological Security'." The seminar commenced with a discussion on the Working Group's progress and its plans for the upcoming year.
The event explored constructivist approaches in international relations, particularly the concept of ontological security in Russian foreign policy, as manifested in research by Andrej Krickovic, Olga Malinova, Tanya Narozhna, Vivien Schmidt and others. Articles were presented by WG's coordinator, Sukhayl Niyazov, and Ekaterina Bragina, WG's researcher. Discussions centered on how these concepts are integral to the Working Group's research, especially concerning the project on a database of discursive acts related to national security.
