Qualitative Research Methods in International Security: From Deconstruction to Discourse Network Analysis

On April 20th at 14:00, at the "Vectors 2024" conference venue, a roundtable organized by the Working Group on the discursive dimension of Russian foreign policy in collaboration with the Moscow School of Social and Economic Sciences will take place. The event's theme is "Qualitative Research Methods in International Security: From Deconstruction to Discourse Network Analysis."

The roundtable will feature two presentations with discussants from HSE and Shaninka. The first presentation will be delivered by Y.M. Puchkov, a senior lecturer in the Department of Political Science at Shaninka, focusing on "Deconstructing Crisis: Critical Approaches to the Study of International Security and Conflicts." The second presentation will be prepared by our Working Group, based on the main research project titled "Mapping Conceptual Shifts in Russia's Foreign Policy Strategy: A Comparative Discourse Network Analysis."

Following each presentation, a discussion is planned, which will be followed by a final discussion on the issues of qualitative approaches to the study of international security.
