4 апреля в 17.00. состоится очередной онлайн-семинар рабочей группы "Социальные процессы в институтах образования и здравоохранения: методы изучения и теоретические интерпретации новых трендов". На нем выступит Ойеволе Адеола Олуватоби с докладом "Examining Narratives of Female Undergraduates in Male-Dominated STEM Majors on STEM Stereotypes in Nigerian Universities"
In order to answer the research inquiry, the study employed semi-structured interviews to capture the narratives and perceptions of 20 female students enrolled in applied Physics and Physics engineering at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Nigeria. Drawing from the first round of analysis, the study findings suggests that female students' impressions of STEM professionals in their universities, the major itself, possible earnings in the future, perceptions of work-family conflicts, and the perceived value of the fields by close relatives are all examples of current stereotypes of the STEM fields. Much more, the university environment influence how female students in STEM perceive their majors and plan to advance either academically or career-wise.
