A project developed by a group of three HSE psychology students received the award for best biotech project at the Entrepreneurial Breakthrough of the Year competition held by the Skolkovo Moscow Business School. A grant to study at Skolkovo was awarded to Andrei Kislov, Egor Levchenko, and Egor Selivanov for their work on neuromarketing technology that determines the subjective cost of a good based on electroencephalographs.

One of the HSE’s newly launched Master’s programmes – Population and Development – aims to train specialists who can develop solutions to many of today’s economic and social challenges. Taught entirely in English and offering courses in public administration, economics, demography and statistical analysis, the programme has partnerships with universities in France, Germany, Italy and Belgium.

Hamid Ait-El-Kaid is a second-year student from Morocco of the Master's programme in Political Analysis and Public Policy. His first exposure to HSE took place during a Winter School for prospective students in February 2014. After learning about the Public Policy programme, he decided to apply to HSE.

On January 31st – February 3^rd 2016, the Winter School of the Faculty of Social Sciences was held at the ‘Voronovo’ Learning Centre, HSE. During the event, potential master’s students took part in master classes, business cases and meetings with students and graduates of the faculty’s educational programmes.

ReadSquare talked to Sanjay about the programme «Political Analysis and Public Policy» he is lecturing in. It appeared, that students from the programme are supposed to solve problems public servants are failing to cope with. Sanjay is also in charge of organizing the Winter School. How to gain knowledge in the most informal set up during the breakfast and lunches? Winter School is the right place for it.

In October 2015 HSE and GS Group signed an agreement to work together on educational initiatives. One of its priorities is a student project to create working models for a smart city. The results could be used to make innovational infrastructures for small cities in Russia.

The Baltic Practice International Summer School, held by the HSE Public Policy Department, has celebrated its 15th anniversary. Its organizers and participants recently spoke about what’s most important for people to know about the Baltic Practice, and about why, after 15 years, the school is changing direction.

In August 2015, the Sixth Summer School on Business Psychology entitled ‘Factors and Conditions for Organizational Change’ took place in Alupka. 

How can you learn to start reviewing tests critically? How do you make good tests? How can you analyze the results of a teacher's evaluation? These and other issues were covered in the summer school organized by the Center for Monitoring Education Quality at HSE Institute of Education.

Political Analysis and Public Policy is the most popular Master’s programme among HSE’s international students. It draws people with professional experience as well as those fresh from Bachelor’s degrees to do research. Indra Prasetya Adi Nugroho is one of the 2015 new Master’s graduates. He came to HSE from a job in the Indonesian government.
