In recent years, affective political polarization, i.e., differences in attitudes toward political allies and opponents, has attracted increasing attention from researchers in the social sciences. Typically, this refers to representatives of different political parties, but groups with different views on key social issues (e.g., attitudes toward restrictions during epidemics) are also included in the analysis.
Most existing studies focus on the US context, in particular on the polarization between liberals and conservatives. However, researchers from other countries, primarily European ones, are actively adapting this approach to their own political contexts.

The seminar discussed the main directions of research on affective polarization, as well as our laboratory's contribution to this field. The results of a meta-analysis of factors of political polarization were presented, along with our own empirical data. We thank all participants for their attention and interest in the topic.
