About the Group

The 'Attention, Computational Models and Eye Movements' (ACME) Research and Study Group was formed as a result of The Research Team Project Competition 2017 held by the HSE Academic Fund Programme. The Group consists of graduate and undergraduate students and research fellows and is supervised by W. Joseph MacInnes, PhD, an associate professor of the School of Psychology of the Faculty of Social Sciences. At the moment, the ACME Group is working on a project 'A computational model to simulate visual stability from eye movements and spatial attention' (Project No. 27-05-0003). Computational models of cognition allow us to specify our best theories with rigorous mathematical precision and test them against data from multiple experiments.  We will build on current models of visual salience, temporal diffusion of saccadic responses and cognitive models of top down attention to create an integrated model that can predict established attentional phenomena such as facilitation effects, Inhibition of return (IOR), and saccadic remapping.
