How does procedural fairness relate to the evaluation of the political system?
Prof. Olga Gulevich presented the results of the laboratory's research at the RAS (Russian Academy of Science)
At the meeting of the Scientific Advisory Council of the Department of Social Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences on legal, psychological and socio-economic problems of society on September 9, 2023 Prof. Olga Gulevich presented her report titled "Procedural justice in the political sphere: content and consequences". The results of the laboratory's research within the framework of the project on procedural justice were presented.
The growth of demand for procedural justice among Russians was noted. The following are important for Russians: the opportunity to influence the decisions made, equal rights, respect of the authorities for citizens and informing about the rules of decision-making. The report took into account the experience of Russian and international studies showing that citizens' confidence in the observance of procedural fairness by government officials and confidence in the ability to influence decisions increases the overall assessment of the political system. Olga Gulevich also discussed the results obtained in the research conducted by the laboratory: the less favorable the macroeconomic situation becomes, the more important for Russians the observance of procedural fairness by the state becomes.
