Women of the Middle East and their struggle

On May15th, 2018 the next seminar of the research group "Comparative Analysis of Male and Female Presence in Public Authorities" was held. First year Master’s Degree student of the Department of Comparative Politics of RUDN University Vladislav Butenko presented his research on "The Role of Women in Policy in the Persian Gulf Countries and Afghanistan".
During the report, the author described the results of the comparative analysis of the representation of women in legislative and executive bodies in 15 countries of the Middle East. In addition to it, Vladislav Butenko briefly introduced the history of the women's movement as well as the situation with gender equality in each of them.
Special attention was given to Afghanistan: this country is the leader in gender equality among the countries represented, and the women's movement of Afghanistan has passed through different stages of development - from extremist organizations to official participation in the state administration of the country.
