The Third Research Seminar

Female bureaucrats are more sensitive to corruption

The Third Research Seminar

On April 4, 2018 another research seminar of the Group “Comparative Study of the Situation of Women and Men in Public Authorities" took place. Tenured Professor Andrey Yakovlev and Research Assistant Polina Detkova presented their study on "Female Factor in Perception of Corruption by Bureaucrats: List Experiment Results".

The researchers recognized that female officials in public procurementperceive corruption as a severe problem in the public procurement system more frequently than male officials. This conclusion can be useful for the purpose of planning new anticorruption policies in this field. The result obtained is sustainable against hierarchy (the seniority level does not have a statistically significant effect).
