Engaging the public with climate change and low-carbon lifestyles: Lessons from COVID-19

At the regular seminar of Environmental Psychology Research and Study Group held on June 10, 2021, Professor Lorraine Whitmarsh, University of Bath, Director of the Centre for Climate Change & Social Transformations (CAST), Cardiff University, gave a talk on “Engaging the public with climate change and low-carbon lifestyles: Lessons from COVID-19”.

Engaging the public with climate change and low-carbon lifestyles: Lessons from COVID-19

In her talk Professor Lorraine Whitmarsh discussed why behaviour change and public engagement are important for mitigating climate change, as well about the ways to change behaviour to foster low-carbon lifestyles. In addition, she compared the global COVID-19 pandemic and climate change to draw lessons for solving the climate crisis from what measures worked to tackle the pandemic.

The seminar was attended by HSE University staff and students, who could ask their questions in the Q & A section.
