In this project, we propose to use the term "mixing" referring to the research methodology. This term means different combinations of methods consistent with an international practice, but which has not been well accepted among Russian researchers yet. The group was formed in autumn, 2014 in the framework of the Science Foundation’s competition.
The Mixed methods research group was created after the inspiring course of the noted scholar – David L. Morgan. It was taken place at the National Research University Higher School of Economics and was dedicated to the development of
the research designs using the combination of qualitative and quantitative approaches. Professor talked about the integration of the qualitative and quantitative methods for different research questions and tasks, gradually described the research designs and their possible expansion.
David Morgan currently teaches courses at the University of Michigan and the University of Portland. He is the author of numerous and highly cited publications about the methods of the sociological research. One of his latest books «Integrating Qualitative and Quantitative Methods: A Pragmatic Approach» (Sage Publications, 2013) became the basis of his course.
