Teaching at Psychology Programmes

Introduction to Psychology

During the development of the discipline, first-year students get a general idea of the subject of psychology, get to know the history of psychology as a science, and discover the main areas of research in psychology.

The course is a mandatory part of the Bachelor’s Programme 'Psychology'.

Experimental Psychology

In this course, students learn the basic principles of planning and conducting psychological experiments, learn to critically analyze the design of the already conducted experiments, and conduct their own experimental psychological research.

The course is a mandatory part of the Bachelor’s Programme 'Psychology'.

Ergonomics and Usability

During the course, students master the basic principles of usability and gain basic skills in conducting research in this area.

The discipline is included in the variable part of the Bachelor’s Programme 'Psychology'.

Introduction to Cognitive Science

This course introduces students to the key positions of the cognitive sciences, their main methods and approaches.

The course is a part of the Master’s Programme ‘Cognitive Sciences and Technologies: From Neuron to Cognition’.

Theaching at Other Departments

The laboratory staff is actively involved in teaching at various departments. Our researchers teach such courses as ‘Introduction to Psychology’, ‘User Interface Research’, ‘User Interfaces for Different Platforms, Terminals, Audiences’, etc.

Lab's Open Courses

Data Analysis + R: Wold of Linear Models

A revised, updated and expanded version of the course that was held in 2020. Now leaners plunged even deeper into R, mastered mathematics and statistics more seriously, and also studied data analysis methods, which are usually given litten time in otehr courses. The knowledge gained was worked out by particiants both in practical classes and when doing homework on real data. The course was organized in an online format to gather participants not only from various universities in the capital, but also from other cities.

The course was held in 2021.

Data Analysis + R: from t-test to mixed effect models

In this course, students were able to deepen their knowledge of statistics and probability theory, master modern and complex methods of data analysis. Some students learned R from scratch. Undergraduate and graduate students from HSE and external organizations attended the classes.

The course was held in 2020.

Bacis Principles of Making Experiments with PsychoPy

During this course, students learned how to create experiments using specialized software quickly and efficiently. Students were also able to deepen their knowledge in data processing. The course was attended by cognitive psychologists and anyone who wanted to learn how to process data easily and quickly and how to use PsychoPy to solve training tasks.

The course was held in 2018 and 2019.

Educational Collaborations

GeekBrains UX Analytics Department

This course is for novice analysts, product managers, designers, and marketers. The programme of the department was developed jointly with the top experts from Mail.ru Group, HSE UX LAB, and Kaspersky Lab. The aim of this course is to train students to conduct interviews and UX tests, to analyze data in Python, to build and analyze user routes in the product, as well as to draw interfaces and prototypes in Figma.
