‘The impact of Electoral Systems on Ideological Voting’ и ‘State Violence and Political Polarization’

Аннотация: Abundant research demonstrates that electoral rules differ not only in how much electoral disproportionality generate but also in the amount of incentives they offer to candidates to cultivate a personal vote. Within this framework, we can distinguish between party-centredand candidate-centredelectoral systems. Building on this classification, and using empirical data from the four waves of the Comparative Study of Electoral Systems, the paper will investigate the effect of the intraparty dimension of electoral systems on ideological proximity/party identification voting.
