New research direction in the laboratory as part of the Project Group Competition

Laboratory members received support for research on "The development of types of imagination in preschool children: cognitive and ontogenetic mechanisms".

New research direction in the laboratory as part of the Project Group Competition

Within the framework of the competition of project groups, the scientific commission of the Faculty of Social Sciences supported the project suggested by Alexey Kotov. The research will be conducted over two years in a project group format new to the lab. We will study how early in ontogenesis (according to our hypothesis - from the age of five) children can represent information in verbal and visual format. In the course of the work we will create a new methodology for assessing this ability. The results of the project may be relevant for the analysis of individual differences in learning in preschool and primary school children.

The project will be conducted jointly with the Laboratory of Developmental Psychology at SFU (Krasnoyarsk) and may form the basis for other joint collaborative research. In the coming year, we will hold a series of seminars devoted to current research on cognitive development related to the topic of imagination, representation, consciousness, and meta-cognitive abilities. For news on the seminars and interim results of the project, there will be a special section on the laboratory's website.
