Speaker: Alexander Neaman, PhD in soil science, professor, head of laboratory, University of Tarapaca, Chile

Moderator: Sofya Kimovna Nartova-Bochaver, PhD in Psychology, Professor, Head of the Laboratory for Salutogenic Environment Psychology, Higher School of Economics

Currently, there is a critical gap in the understanding of psychological factors that motivate farmers to protect soils. This work leverages the knowledge of environmental psychology to substantiate the psychological determinants of farmers’ ecological behavior in the context of soil conservation. By focusing on the concepts of “soil science knowledge”, “connection to soil”, and “prosocial propensity”, this study proposes a theoretical basis for developing effective soil conservation programs among farmers. The author discusses priorities for interdisciplinary theoretical research in the field of environmental psychology, which may prove valuable for applications in other scientific fields.

The seminar will be held on September 25 (Thursday) at 11.00.
