The Nordic space and the Public Policy Department: An annual odyssey of ECPR in Oslo
Representatives of HSE Public Policy Department participated in the 11th annual general conference of ECPR (European Consortium for Political Research) which was held from 6th  to 9th of September 2017 at the Norwegian capital Oslo. University of Oslo an academic Institution par excellence in the northern Europe is an eminent place of higher education in Norway for more than 200 years.  Hence Oslo became the Political scientist’s city for the four consecutive days when  the scholars from all over Europe and across the Atlantic converged for their annual summitry of scholarship and research on the subject of Political science and added discipline. The very impressive infrastructural support of the University team coupled with the impeccable management from ECPR volunteers  did make more than three thousand participants move effortlessly from different parts of the University campus with much ease and be on time to attend the range of panels.

Dear colleagues!
If you are interested in Russian history and issues of collective memory or identity-building, we are pleased to invite you to our forthcoming research school. The school is called “Russian historic memory: in search of identity” will be held on 23-29 of October in ancient heartland of Russia - Rostov the Great.Over the past 15 years, the Department of Public Policy has held a range of summer schools, previously called “Baltic Practice” which focused on an exploration of the relationship between Russia and European Union. But from this year we are changing our focus and will be exploring the complex issue of Russian identity, which has renewed importance as the Russian government has increasingly celebrated key events of Russian history.

From 14th February 2017 till 17th February 2017, the students of the Public Policy Department and the faculty members had the privilege to host the Academic Director of IUC Torino, Prof Giuseppe Mastruzzo as the guest speaker of the program. His visit to HSE is a part of the Teaching Excellence project where the leading International academic luminaries are invited for a short teaching visit to give lecture both to the students’ community and also to the teachers at large. Previously, Giuseppe Mastruzzo has taught at the universities of Kent and East London in England, Delta State in Nigeria, and at the Italian National School for Public Administration, among other institutions

On April 27, a meeting with the delegation from the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia and the experts on ASEAN took place at the Department of Public Policy. The topic of the discussion was 'Nuclear Energy Safety and Public Awareness'. The participants also talked about the policy of ZOPFAN and NFZ for security & peace building and about Indonesia as an actor in ASEAN. The event was organized by HSE Public Policy Department and moderated  by Vice Chair of the Department Sanjay K. Rajhans. Students of Public Policy Department took active part in the event.

Ali Farazmand, Professor of Public Administration and Policy at Florida Atlantic University has long been interested in issues of public administration, public policy and governance. Ahead of his lecture at the XVII April Conference, Professor Farazmand speaks about his research interests and how he hopes to further develop collaborative relationships with Russian scholars.
