A View from Poznan : The 24 TH World Congress of the IPSA
On the 23 rd  to 28 th  of July the city of Poznan in Poland received the leading scholars of Political Science from all over the world. The occasion was the 24 th  World Congress of International Political Science Association. The city had on a very brief notice shouldered the responsibility that was originally scheduled for the city of Istanbul. This international conglomeration of the leading scholars from all over the world had the overarching theme “inequality”. The leading scholar Prof Richard Wilkinson from the University of Nottingham had addressed the inaugural day plenary session and had done a very vivid presentation on the theme regarding the subject “Inequality: The enemy between us”. He discussed at length that the societies with bigger income differences between rich and poor tend to suffer more of a wide range of health and social problems, including higher death rates, more mental illness, more violence, weaker community life and lower levels of child wellbeing.
