We do believe that cutting-edge understanding of our country’s and the world’s future should and can be seen through public policy perspective, the policy of dialogue between different social and political groups, the policy that encourages the states' and public leaders’ accountability, open to expressed views of the public, analytical community, intellectuals and global citizens.

Prof Nina Yurievna Belyaeva, someone who thinks, sleeps and walks about the idea of the citizens, democracy and civil society participation in the policy formation and implementation is the face, spirit and the driving force of the Public Policy Department of Higher School of Economics. On the 60th anniversary celebration, Prof NYB as we fondly call her has remained the inexhaustible force for the internationalization of HSE for past 17 years since her engagement with our university since 2000. An international scholar, widely traveled and cited teacher with the burning spirit to help out the students and the colleagues, she is a person that has taken a range of initiatives to widen the academic and scholarly growth of both the students and the teachers of the department namely: Summer schools for more than 15 years, International school on Human Rights, Double Degree program with University of Bologna and exchange programs with University of Torino, University of Sciences Po Lyon among others. Happy Birthday! Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.
