Among the participants in the school were 27 young scholars from leading universities, research organizations, and state and municipal agencies in Russia. Participants were selected based on a nationwide competition.
Courses in the summer school were taught by leading experts in the area of sustainable territorial development from HSE, the Lomonosov Moscow State University, and institutions of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Instructors included Alexander Puzanov, head of the Department of Urban Economics and Municipal Administration at HSE; Alexey Novikov, Dean of the HSE Graduate School of Urban Studies and Planning; Mikhail Kozeltsev, Chief Research Fellow at the HSE Institute of Natural Resource Economics and Environmental Policy; Konstantin Trofimenko, Director of the HSE Centre for Research of Transport Problems in Metropolises; Sergei Bobylyov, Professor in the Faculty of Economics at Moscow State University and head of a U.N. expert group on sustainable development; and Dmitry Kavtaradze, Professor and Head of the Laboratory in the Faculty of Public Administration at Moscow State University, as well as other well-known researchers.
